🧠 #AnthropicSafetyParadox
The biggest paradox in AI today isn't technological.
It's philosophical.
Anthropic just called for a coordinated global mechanism that could slow or pause frontier AI development if systems begin improving themselves faster than society can manage. The company argues that recursive self-improvement could eventually push humans beyond the point of meaningful oversight.
Here's the paradox:
The same company racing to build the world's most powerful AI is simultaneously warning that AI may become too powerful to control.
Critics argue this sounds like a trillion-dollar company pulling up the ladder behind itself. Supporters argue it's one of the few major labs openly discussing long-term risks.
Both sides may be partially right.
History shows that transformative technologies often arrive before governance frameworks are ready.
The internet scaled before cybersecurity.
Social media scale before misinformation controls.
Now, AI may be scaling before alignment mechanisms fully exist.
The uncomfortable question isn't whether AI should advance.
It's whether humanity can build guardrails at the same pace.
The future may not be decided by the smartest model.
$AI
It may be decided by the safest one.
